Anterior fiber-reinforced composite resin bridge: a case report.

چکیده
A variety of therapeutic modalities, from implants to conventional Maryland bridges, can be used for the replacement of a traumatically missing anterior tooth. The reinforcement of composite resins by fibers improves their fracture toughness and resistance. Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) bridges can be a good alternative to conventional prosthetic techniques. The purpose of this article was to present a clinical case of a single tooth replacement by means of a polyethylene FRC bridge. A semi-direct technique was used to fabricate a Maryland-like composite bridge for the replacement of a missing central permanent incisor. The bridge fabrication was done in the dental office using a fast-setting polyvinylsiloxane die material and a state-of-art restorative composite resin. This technique offers a conservative, esthetic, and noninvasive treatment. Moreover, this technique is economically more acceptable, nonirritating, and noniatrogenic. Polyethylene FRC bridges can be considered as a permanent treatment or, in the case of implant placement after the end of the growth period, as a long-lasting reversible provisional treatment.

Fiber-reinforced Composite Resin Bridge: A Treatment Option in Children
A number of treatment options, ranging from Maryland bridges to implants, are available for the replacement of congenitally or traumatically missing permanent anterior teeth. But, there are several limitations of these therapeutic options when they have to be used before the completion of the growth, particularly in children. Reinforcement of composite resins with polyethylene fibers significan...

The case report presented here is of a 4-year-old girl with severely decayed maxillary anterior teeth. After root canal treatment, the primary maxillary central and lateral incisors were reinforced using polyethylene fiber-reinforced composite resin short posts and restored using celluloid strip crowns. The technique described here offers a simple and effective method for restoring severely dec...

BACKGROUND The rehabilitation of an anterior tooth space presents a confronting situation. Several modalities are presently available to address the challenge of an immediate replacement of a missing anterior tooth. These include a removable temporary acrylic prosthesis or resin-bonded bridges. Fibre-Reinforced Composite (FRC) bridges are preferable if they are fixed and if a cost-effective too...
